Deep Root Fertilization

Spring has sprung – time to book your deep root fertilization

Spring is a time of rebirth. Grass begins to grow, flowers bloom, and trees sprout new leaves. While it may seem like a miracle, it is part of a natural cycle. For anyone who has been around a newborn though, you know that new life requires plenty of feeding. The same thing goes for all of Mother Nature’s new babies.

As soon as temperatures start to rise, most people know to fertilize their lawns, but did you know that trees need to be fed too? For those who point to trees in the forest and how no one feeds them, can I remind you of your fall yard cleanup? Do you remember raking and bagging all those leaves and then placing them to the curb? In the wild, those leaves break down and become nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorous for trees in forests. When you rake leaves from around your trees, you effectively remove a vital source of those nutrients from your urban trees. So while trees in forests are fed naturally, urban trees need a little help.

The answer – deep root fertilization.

Deep root fertilization gets vital nutrients directly to a tree’s roots, where it needs them most. When CLC Tree Services performs deep root fertilization treatments, a tree care specialist first comes to do soil testing. The soil is analyzed to assess its organic, chemical, and physical components before fertilization is completed. Soil analysis also helps to assess the effectiveness of treatment in future years.

It is suggested to have your trees fertilized on a yearly basis. CLC Tree Services begins deep root fertilization treatments in early May. Once soil analysis is done, aeration and fertilization is completed around tree roots. It is recommended to promote growth in young trees, and to improve overall health and prevent against insect infestation and disease in mature trees.

We are blessed at CLC Tree Services to have a world-renowned lab on our doorsteps to help with the process as well. A & L Biologicals not only offers food safety, plant and soil health testing, but it also does extensive research and education. Our very own Pam Cook attended a soil test analysis course there this spring, so you can rest assured that we offer only the very best and most up-to-date services around.
